Purpose and Scope

The Travel Psychologist blog aims to provide credible and trustworthy information about travel, psychology and well-being. The blog is written by Psychologists (and other qualified mental health professionals) and provides information to the general public.

Content guidelines

Accuracy and Credibility

  • Content must be accurate, reliable, and based on the evidence base where this is available.
  • As qualified mental health professionals, authors may share their own opinions and experiences, where they judge this to be appropriate and beneficial for the audience.
  • All articles are reviewed by the Editor (Dr Charlotte Russell) prior to publication to ensure information is appropriate and beneficial for the audience and that to ensure adherence with editorial guidelines.

Originality and Plagiarism

  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Authors must credit original sources appropriately.
  • We encourage unique perspectives and fresh insights.

Sensitivity and Compassion

  • We approach sensitive topics (e.g., trauma, mental health challenges) with empathy and respect.
  • Avoid stigmatizing language or harmful stereotypes.

Inclusivity and Diversity

  • We celebrate diversity in all forms (race, gender, sexuality, etc.).
  • Authors should consider diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Hate speech or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.

Privacy and Confidentiality

  • Respect privacy rights. Avoid sharing personal details or identifying information about individuals.
  • Obtain consent when featuring case studies or interviews.

Comments and Community Interaction

  • Encourage respectful dialogue in the comments section.
  • Moderators will remove offensive, harmful, or spammy comments.

Authorship and Accountability

Author Credentials

  • Authors must have relevant qualifications or expertise in psychology.
  • Guest contributors should provide a brief bio and credentials.

Fact-Checking and Corrections

  • Authors are responsible for fact-checking their content.
